About Me

If you are working in the hotel industry, studying hotel management, applying for your first position, or considering yourself a seasoned hotelier, Hoteliers of Tomorrow serves as a forum to share ideas, tools and resources, learn from each other along the way, and become a better leader and hotelier as a result of it.

The content of this site comes from my personal experiences that I was able to collect from my achievements and missteps over the years, and that I learned to be very helpful for anyone who is just at the beginning of their journey.

What makes me write about hotels and better yet, what qualifies me to do so? My name is Alexander and I am currently working in a luxury hotel property in Bangkok as General Manager and prior to that in New York City. Before moving to New York I worked in luxury properties in Europe and Asia, and tried to gain as much experience in other departments as possible until I fell in love with operations. I loved the challenges that came along with being a manager in the unionized environment of New York, and learned that at the end of the day, it does not matter much what the regulations and limitations are of the setting that you’re working in, it comes down to one person respecting another. It’s that simple!

If you understand the true meaning of this and are able to change people to the better, you become fascinated and addicted to it!

I read many books on leadership and how to do the right thing, motivate the people around you, and getting things done, but you do not become a great leader by reading books, you become a great leader by experience, by making mistakes and being able to grow because of them.

This site is intended for anyone who is at the beginning of their career, just graduated from college or wants to deepen their knowledge about their profession, and provides practical advise and stories that will help you succeed.

A career in hospitality offers a great variety of opportunities, and if you love it, you will never have to work a single day in your life. Enjoy the journey!
